In this tutorial we learn how to install bibcursed on Ubuntu.
What is bibcursed
bibcursed is:
Bibcursed is a simple program to make life a little easier when using BibTeX bibliographies. It currently provides these main functions:
- Adding references to your bibliography. This is done with prompts so templates for the different entries (article, proceedings, etc) do not have to be remembered. Error checking is used so that the required fields have to be supplied, and incorrect fields cannot be entered. New entries are inserted into the ‘correct’ place in the BibTeX file
- Clean and easy removal of entries
- Viewing of entries and changing of fields
- Easy searching of entries, including search by field
There are three methods to install bibcursed on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install bibcursed Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install bibcursed using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install bibcursed
Install bibcursed Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install bibcursed using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install bibcursed
Install bibcursed Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install bibcursed using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install bibcursed
How To Uninstall bibcursed on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the bibcursed package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove bibcursed
Uninstall bibcursed And Its Dependencies
To uninstall bibcursed and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove bibcursed
Remove bibcursed Configurations and Data
To remove bibcursed configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge bibcursed
Remove bibcursed configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove bibcursed configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge bibcursed
