Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install battery-stats on Ubuntu.

What is battery-stats

battery-stats is:

This package provides battery-stats-collector, a daemon which will periodically collect statistics about the charge of the batteries present.

It also provides a binary called battery-graph, which can be used to generate qplot graphs about the battery charge/discharge patterns over time.

Note: This requires APM or ACPI to be enabled and working in your kernel.

There are three methods to install battery-stats on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install battery-stats Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install battery-stats using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install battery-stats

Install battery-stats Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install battery-stats using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install battery-stats

Install battery-stats Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install battery-stats using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install battery-stats

How To Uninstall battery-stats on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the battery-stats package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove battery-stats

Uninstall battery-stats And Its Dependencies

To uninstall battery-stats and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove battery-stats

Remove battery-stats Configurations and Data

To remove battery-stats configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge battery-stats

Remove battery-stats configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove battery-stats configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge battery-stats
