Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install baresip-gtk on Ubuntu.

What is baresip-gtk

baresip-gtk is:

A modular SIP user-agent with support for audio and video, and many IETF standards such as SIP, SDP, RTP/RTCP, STUN, TURN, ICE, and WebRTC.

Supports both IPv4 and IPv6, and the following features.

This package provides a GTK+ front-end for baresip.

There are three methods to install baresip-gtk on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install baresip-gtk Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install baresip-gtk using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install baresip-gtk

Install baresip-gtk Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install baresip-gtk using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install baresip-gtk

Install baresip-gtk Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install baresip-gtk using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install baresip-gtk

How To Uninstall baresip-gtk on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the baresip-gtk package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove baresip-gtk

Uninstall baresip-gtk And Its Dependencies

To uninstall baresip-gtk and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove baresip-gtk

Remove baresip-gtk Configurations and Data

To remove baresip-gtk configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge baresip-gtk

Remove baresip-gtk configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove baresip-gtk configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge baresip-gtk
