In this tutorial we learn how to install baresip-gstreamer on Ubuntu.

What is baresip-gstreamer

baresip-gstreamer is:

A modular SIP user-agent with support for audio and video, and many IETF standards such as SIP, SDP, RTP/RTCP, STUN, TURN, ICE, and WebRTC.

Supports both IPv4 and IPv6, and the following features.

This package integrates GStreamer pipelines with baresip.

There are three methods to install baresip-gstreamer on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install baresip-gstreamer Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install baresip-gstreamer using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install baresip-gstreamer

Install baresip-gstreamer Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install baresip-gstreamer using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install baresip-gstreamer

Install baresip-gstreamer Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install baresip-gstreamer using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install baresip-gstreamer

How To Uninstall baresip-gstreamer on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the baresip-gstreamer package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove baresip-gstreamer

Uninstall baresip-gstreamer And Its Dependencies

To uninstall baresip-gstreamer and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove baresip-gstreamer

Remove baresip-gstreamer Configurations and Data

To remove baresip-gstreamer configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge baresip-gstreamer

Remove baresip-gstreamer configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove baresip-gstreamer configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge baresip-gstreamer
