In this tutorial we learn how to install atheme-services
on Ubuntu.
What is atheme-services
atheme-services is:
atheme-services is a portable, secure set of open source, modular IRC services, designed to run on many IRC server implementations.
Unlike alternative packages, atheme-services’ core is minimalistic, providing only core functionality. atheme-services is a complete services set, excluding features designed for oper abuse.
There are three methods to install atheme-services
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install atheme-services Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install atheme-services
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install atheme-services
Install atheme-services Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install atheme-services
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install atheme-services
Install atheme-services Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install atheme-services
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install atheme-services
How To Uninstall atheme-services on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the atheme-services
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove atheme-services
Uninstall atheme-services And Its Dependencies
To uninstall atheme-services
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove atheme-services
Remove atheme-services Configurations and Data
To remove atheme-services
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge atheme-services
Remove atheme-services configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove atheme-services
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge atheme-services
