In this tutorial we learn how to install aseba
on Ubuntu.
What is aseba
aseba is:
Aseba’s core is a lightweight virtual machine, small enough to run on any 16 bits microcontroller. In Aseba, all virtual machines are linked in a network and all their programs are developed and debugged from a single application, Aseba Studio.
Aseba allows one to program Thymio, a small robot to discover the universe of robotics and learn a robot’s language.
There are three methods to install aseba
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install aseba Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install aseba
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install aseba

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install aseba
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install aseba
Install aseba Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install aseba

How To Uninstall aseba on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the aseba
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove aseba

sudo apt-get -y autoremove aseba
Remove aseba Configurations and Data

configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
