What is apport
apport is:
apport automatically collects data from crashed processes and compiles a problem report in /var/crash/. This utilizes the crashdump helper hook provided by the Ubuntu kernel.
This package also provides a command line frontend for browsing and handling the crash reports. For desktops, you should consider installing the GTK+ or Qt user interface (apport-gtk or apport-kde).
There are three methods to install apport
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install apport Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install apport
using apt-get
