Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install ansible-core
on Ubuntu.
What is ansible-core
ansible-core is:
Ansible is a radically simple model-driven configuration management, multi-node deployment, and remote task execution system. Ansible works over SSH and does not require any software or daemons to be installed on remote nodes. Extension modules can be written in any language and are transferred to managed machines automatically.
This package contains the ansible binaries.
There are three methods to install ansible-core
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ansible-core Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ansible-core
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ansible-core
Install ansible-core Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ansible-core
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ansible-core
Install ansible-core Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ansible-core
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ansible-core
How To Uninstall ansible-core on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the ansible-core
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ansible-core
Uninstall ansible-core And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ansible-core
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ansible-core
Remove ansible-core Configurations and Data
To remove ansible-core
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ansible-core
Remove ansible-core configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ansible-core
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ansible-core
