How To Install ament-cmake-copyright on Ubuntu

In this tutorial we learn how to install ament-cmake-copyright on Ubuntu.

ament-cmake-copyright is:

The ament build system is the most common way to build packages for ROS 2. ament_cmake provides the necessary tooling to build ament packages with CMake.

This package adds support for copyright checks to ament_cmake.

There are three methods to install ament-cmake-copyright on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install ament-cmake-copyright using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install ament-cmake-copyright

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install ament-cmake-copyright using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install ament-cmake-copyright

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install ament-cmake-copyright using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install ament-cmake-copyright

To uninstall only the ament-cmake-copyright package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove ament-cmake-copyright

To uninstall ament-cmake-copyright and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove ament-cmake-copyright

To remove ament-cmake-copyright configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge ament-cmake-copyright

We can use the following command to remove ament-cmake-copyright configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ament-cmake-copyright
