In this tutorial we learn how to install ambdec on Ubuntu.

What is ambdec

ambdec is:

AmbDec is an Ambisonics decoder for up to 36 speakers. It can be used for both horizontal and full 3-D systems of first, second and third order. The decoding matrices are fully user-configurable. AmbDec has some advanced features not found on most decoders:

All three features can be selectively enabled or disabled in the configuration.

There are three methods to install ambdec on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install ambdec Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install ambdec using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install ambdec

Install ambdec Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install ambdec using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install ambdec

Install ambdec Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install ambdec using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install ambdec

How To Uninstall ambdec on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the ambdec package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove ambdec

Uninstall ambdec And Its Dependencies

To uninstall ambdec and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove ambdec

Remove ambdec Configurations and Data

To remove ambdec configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge ambdec

Remove ambdec configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove ambdec configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ambdec
