In this tutorial we learn how to install alacarte on Ubuntu.

What is alacarte

Alacarte is an easy-to-use menu editor for GNOME that can add and edit new entries and menus. It works with the freedesktop.org menu specification and should work with any desktop environment that uses the spec.

There are three methods to install alacarte on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install alacarte Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install alacarte using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove alacarte

To remove alacarte configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
