In this tutorial we learn how to install adr-tools
on Ubuntu.
What is adr-tools
adr-tools is:
Architecture Decision Records or ADRs for short encode architectural decisions through the lifetime of a project. They are meant to help future maintainers to understand how the project came do be the way it is. ADRs can help understand past decisions, supersede them with new decisions and list currently effective decisions.
There are three methods to install adr-tools
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install adr-tools Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install adr-tools
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install adr-tools
Install adr-tools Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install adr-tools
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install adr-tools
Install adr-tools Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install adr-tools
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install adr-tools
How To Uninstall adr-tools on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the adr-tools
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove adr-tools
Uninstall adr-tools And Its Dependencies
To uninstall adr-tools
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove adr-tools
Remove adr-tools Configurations and Data
To remove adr-tools
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge adr-tools
Remove adr-tools configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove adr-tools
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge adr-tools
