Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install adplug-utils on Ubuntu.
What is adplug-utils
adplug-utils is:
AdPlug is a free, cross-platform, hardware independent AdLib sound player library, mainly written in C++ and released under the LGPL. AdPlug plays sound data, originally created for the AdLib (OPL2) and Sound Blaster (Dual OPL2/OPL3) audio boards, directly from its original format on top of an emulator or by using the real hardware. No OPL chip is required for playback.
This package contains additional utilities.
There are three methods to install adplug-utils on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install adplug-utils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install adplug-utils using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install adplug-utils
Install adplug-utils Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install adplug-utils using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install adplug-utils
Install adplug-utils Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install adplug-utils using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install adplug-utils
How To Uninstall adplug-utils on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the adplug-utils package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove adplug-utils
Uninstall adplug-utils And Its Dependencies
To uninstall adplug-utils and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove adplug-utils
Remove adplug-utils Configurations and Data
To remove adplug-utils configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge adplug-utils

We can use the following command to remove adplug-utils configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
