Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install acme
on Ubuntu.
What is acme
acme is:
This is a cross assembler that can produce code for the following processors: 6502, 6510 (including illegal opcodes), 65c02 and 65816. ACME supports the standard assembler stuff like global/local/anonymous labels, offset assembly, conditional assembly and looping assembly. It can include other source files as well as binaries while assembling. Calculations can be done in integer or float mode. Oh, and it is fast.
There are three methods to install acme
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install acme Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install acme
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install acme

Update apt database with apt

sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install acme
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install acme
Install acme Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

How To Uninstall acme on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the acme
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove acme

and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove acme

To remove acme
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge acme
